Looking for a sport horse? Why not an Iberian horse?

Riders like Rafael Soto and Ignacio Ramblas have convincingly demonstrated the willingness of the Iberian horses to perform. Rideability, soundness, and sensitivity are complemented by the willingness to perform and a high disposition for collection.

Even if you “only” look for a horse for upscale leisure riding – the Iberian horse is a good choice. The horses are bred in the Extremadura and spend their first 3 years only in the Dehesa, an unspoiled, bleak, and austere landscape. The name “Extremadura” derives from the adjective “extreme” and refers to the roughness of the landscape and the climate. Winters are cold – temperatures below 0°C occur frequently – and summers with about 45 °C are very hot. The harsh climate contributed to the emergence of very tough and healthy horses. The horses of the Spanish conquistadores came from this province and gave rise to the Mustangs of America.
